The setup of Pélagos involved the collaboration of various institutions, each contributing its specific technical and scientific expertise in a dynamic and fruitful exchange. The project concept behind the museum itinerary is to offer diverse content and multiple ways of engagement.

The panels displayed in the exhibition rooms provide visitors with an in-depth exploration of the geological, biological, and archaeological aspects of the Crotone peninsula, while the emphasis on technology in the third and fourth rooms enables an immersive and interactive experience, ensuring more immediate accessibility to the natural and cultural themes presented.

The Virtual Reality headsets and a Touch Table allow visitors to explore up close sites of great interest that are either hidden beneath the sea or difficult to access. By virtually stepping out of the museum, visitors can explore the environments of the “Capo Rizzuto” MPA and interact with its distinctive features scattered along the depths of the seabed. This journey allows them to retrace the stories the area has to tell through its rocks, habitats, and underwater discoveries. Other stories are narrated by experts through video documentaries presented in the final room.
